As we sit here today, we know Doctor Who is going to tender at some stage – probably later this year. We also know BBC Studios will be throwing its hat into the ring when it does.
Basically, ‘stuff’ is happening and, eventually, a new Doctor is going to be cast.
So in the spirit of our specials 14 for 14 (August 8, 2021) and 21 Replacements For 12 (February 1, 2017), we’re here to kick around our picks for the 16th Doctor.

Hey guys, (another) great episode, which I listened to while driving unfortunately, due to which I couldn’t search names etc. as they came up.
From your descriptions, and my limited knowledge of the people in question, two solid lists, of which my favorites were Ruth Wilson and Daniel Radcliffe.
Didn’t think about this long, but here are a few names I’d find very interesting:
Richard Ayoade – was named on many lists in the past few incarnations. I still think he’d nail that role and be quite popular.
To piggyback on the appeal to American market, I think there’s a great pool of actors who could do the role justice, just within the walking dead cast:
1. Andrew Lincoln would be my first choice from that pool – exactly what the show needs in terms of a reset. Established British actor, recognized worldwide. White male, phenomenal dramatic actor, who I’m absolutely sure could do comedy well.
2. Lennie James – Another phenomenal dramatic actor with name recognition.
3. If you want to go female – Loren Cohan. She would be a great Doctor and could go darker or lighter with ease.
Will any of them agree to such a proposition? I have no idea. I’d absolutely watch the heck out of a Doctor Who season featuring one of them.
In the end of the day, I think the role itself should be written much better than it was in Gatwa’s run. We need to get back to a more alien-y doctor. Less buddy-buddy.
